Puppy Tummy...

PUPPY WEEK TWO

So we begin week two with puppydom. All the puppies are gaining weight evenly, with faucets for everyone to tap into. The daily routine includes eating, sleeping, eating, sleeping, sleeping, sleeping and maybe one field trip to the couch. Everyone seems happy and you can tell from all the "chirping" that goes on.

Darjeeling is settling in nicely with new role as mother, guardian of the house and model. It's quite amusing to watch her with her morning run and "swinging away" underneath. She's also quite good about the balancing act with mother-dom, taking everything with moderation.

Personalities from week one have definitely seeded into the chid'lins. So we've taken the liberty of handing out "crib names" for our continued enjoyment of these bundles of joy:

CHAI
"Blue Boy"
Darjeeling's firstborn son enjoys eating and is the first at the dinner "table." He and his sister, Raspberry, are definitely comrades and are often found together. Chai rarely wanders on his own and stays by the nearest heat source possible. We think he will make a great cuddle dog. Chai was named for his "spicy" tea nature, given that he makes it quite clear when he is hungry, cold or bored.

RASPBERRY
"Red Girl"
The second, smallest and most vocal of the four. Our red girl came out yodeling upon her debut to the outside world. She's our petite one but definitely holds her ground. Raspberry does not like surprises and is terribly good at portion control. Auntie Chris has related that Raspberry is quite similar to Tipsy. Thus, nicknamed after Carol Channing's cry of RASPBERRIES!, we believe this girl will have big shows to star in...

BAHN-MEE
"Yellow Girl"
Ah, our tri-coloured girl. Always independent, but never troublesome. Self-confident but humble she goes about. Of course, she's our "exotic" girl so we've called her Bahn-Mee, our Vietnamese adopted granddaughter. She's also quite the big girl, keeping up with the boys' weight and never falls victim to bullying. The name Bahn-Mee is inspired from the orphan Starlight Girl, Bahn-nee of Jem and the Holagrams.

PEKOE
"White Boy"
If genes could be replicated virtually, we'd have a major discovery. The last to come out to the outside world and everything his own terms like his mother, Pekoe reminds us of so much like Barclay. Gentlemenly, attentive, never fussy, always willing to share the milk, Pekoe, we feel, will be a very easy keeper for the home. Pekoe loves field trips, being just as independent as Bahn-Mee. The two are often found on opposite ends of the Bali Spa, whilst their eldest siblings are usually conspiring together.

As week three approaches, the puppies will begin to open their eyes and ears. But for now they rely on Darjeeling and are sensitive to touch and vibration. And of course, they have that great marketable scent, Puppy Tummy...
